State of Florida v. Brazill
- 1996/12/3
Nathaniel Brazill, a 14-year-old Florida boy convicted of second-degree murder for shooting his teacher Barry Grunow, faced at least 25 years in prison with no possibility of parole after a judge ruled that Brazill be tried as an adult under Florida's strict gun laws. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment. Under Florida law, anyone who harms or kills someone with a gun faces at least 25 years in prison with no parole and no reduced time for good behavior. Brazill brought the gun to school because he was angry for having been suspended by another teacher for throwing water balloons.
